There’s many fantastic performances in Sound of Metal, especially from the vulnerable portrayal by Riz Ahmed, and they all work together to leave you hopeful in the end, but not without showing how rough challenges in life really are. Although it is very slow paced, and can be boring for some people who maybe haven’t had personal experiences with Deaf people, not to mention it’s not very diverse when it comes to race and giving the girlfriend character enough attention. Yet what’s done here is great for raising awareness of what goes on in the Deaf community; so if you never had any exposure, this movie is a great place to start.
